Glen Eyrie Castle
this fabulous 67 room English Tudor style castle was constructed for General William
Jackson Palmer, the founder of Colorado Springs, his dream house, that sits in the northwest foothills that is located
north of the Garden of the Gods rock formations. It contains 24 fireplaces, a primitive intercom system, and a very
unique chimney system that held the smoke until the wind was blowing in the right direction to take the smoke away.
It would be added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, and currently owned by the Navigators. It has
evolved into a retreat and conference center that provides numerous Christian programs and conferences, with actual herds
of deer, wild turkey and bighorn sheep grazing along the property lands.
