Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area
this spectacular area in Nevada is just fifteen miles
west of Las Vegas and is seen quite well from the strip. More
than a million people come here each year to enjoy the beautiful
colors and rock formations that have evolved over the millennia.
The showcase of it all is a huge red rock formation that is a
sandstone area filled with peaks and walls called the Keystone
Thrust. Because of their extreme formations and height, the
rocks have become a popular rock climbing area and hiking
destination, with numerous trails that take you through the
rocks and into some of the most beautiful stunning sights in the
world. The area is located in one of the easternmost areas of
the Mojave Desert with over 600 varieties of trees that include
the famous Joshua tree, Mojave yucca, blackbrush, banana yucca
and creosote. You will most likely see wild burros, desert
bighorn sheep, rabbits and ground squirrels, as well as the
protected Desert tortoise. It is a fabulous region to visit the
natural environments that have been deposited here, with many
				colorful rock formations and rocks.
