Center of Iowa The African American Historical
Museum and Cultural Center of Iowa is a facility on the banks of the
Cedar River it is Iowa's only cultural center designed to interpret
African American history to the broader community
Brucemore
Tours of the 21-room mansion provide a glimpse of
the privileged life of another time. Interiors feature a Wagnerian
mural, rich woodwork and a magnificent pipe organ. Today Brucemore
is alive with events and is a community hub for cultural, and
educational activities. Throughout the year, Brucemore offers a
variety of special events and programs, including an Easter
Egg-stravaganza.
Cedar Rapids Museum of Art
This downtown museum houses the world's largest
collection of paintings by the Iowa-born artist Grant Wood.
St, Pauls United Methodist Church
Saint Pauls features celebration worship at 5:30
PM Saturday evening, an 8:00 AM spirited traditional service on
Sunday morning, with Holy Communion at 9:30 AM, and a traditional
worship service at 11:00 AM on Sundays.
The History Center
This History Center boasts exhibits that trace the
history of the area in its Living Along the Tributaries, which
serves as the central exhibit of the museum; there is also a vast
and eclectic assortment of objects in the museums collection that
range from hat pins to electric cars, with over thirty five thousand
objects in the collection.
Airport National Public Golf Complex
Offering a pro shop and golfing school, golf carts
and eighteen holes, this course is laid out to be a first rate
family golfing area.
Cedar Rapids Public Library
This public library features an ever current
collection of books and other media, internet stations, an expansive
children's section, a second-floor cafe, and access to a skywalk;
the library also hosts a number of special events, programs and
author speaking engagements.
Cedar Rapids Rough Riders Hockey Team
The Cedar Rapids Rough Riders are a team within
the US Junior Hockey League, and their games are the destination for
the avid hockey enthusiast in the Cedar Rapids region.
Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra
The Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra offers one of
the largest music education programs in the country, this symphony
orchestra also presents world-class performances at the Paramount
Theatre.
Czech Village
The Czech Village shows the history of the many
immigrants of Czech, Moravian and Slovakian ancestry that immigrated
to the Cedar Rapids area around the turn of the Twentieth Century.

Duffy's Collectable Cars
This museum of classic cars features over one hundred beautifully
restored cars dating from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, including
hardtops, convertibles, and more; in addition, other
memorabilia associated with the history of the car.
Ellis Golf Course
The Ellis Golf Course first opened for play in the
1920s, this course offers eighteen holes, a pro shop, golf carts,
and a snack bar.
Hawkeye Downs Speedway
The Hawkeye Downs Speedway is a speedway and
fairground that is the site not only of automobile races, but also
other outdoor events such as boat, tackle and other sports shows.
Indian Creek Nature Center
During the day you can explore the eleven miles of
nature trails that lead through woodlands, wetlands, and prairies;
there are also indoor exhibits, a maple sugar house, an indoor
honeybee hive, events, public programs, and a gift shop.
Iowa Masonic Library
Open to the public, this library has over one
hundred thousand tomes in its collection of both Masonic and general
natures, and is the largest Masonic Library in the world.
Jones Park Golf Course
The Jones Park Golf Course was opened as a
nine-hole facility in 1959, and expanded to an eighteen-hole course
in the year 2001.
Legion Arts
Located in a renovated century-old Czech social
hall, Legion Arts is known for being a presenter and champion of
contemporary art, music and theatre.
Maple Ridge Farm Hayrack Rides
This farm and recreation area offers hayrides,
bonfires, covered picnic areas, and a wonderful rustic, rural
setting for happenings and events.
Planet X Extreme Entertainment
There is fun for the entire family at this sports
complex that offers activities such as miniature golf, laser tag,
rock climbing, space bikes, batting cages, bumper cars and party
rooms.
Twins Pines Golf Course
Twin Pines Golf Course is a Certified Cooperative
Audubon Sanctuary and offers eighteen holes for play that are easy
to walk, although golf carts are also available.
U.S. Cellular Center
This entertainment complex is host to events and
performances as diverse as major concerts by Country, Blues, Rock
and Pop performers, to musical and dramatic productions, to
monster truck shows, motorcycle sporting events, and much more. |
