Pewabic Pottery
Pewabic Pottery was
founded in 1907, which produced the brilliantly glazed ceramic
Pewabic tiles found in buildings throughout the nation, including
the Detroit Public Library and Washington National Cathedral. The
pottery now houses a ceramics museum, a workshop, and a learning
center.
Detroit Symphony
Popular orchestra performs a wide variety of
musical performances featuring classical, pops and jazz concerts at
Orchestra Hall, Meadow Brook Music Festival and other venues. |
Second Baptist Church
Second Baptist Church, organized in
1836, is Detroit's oldest black congregation and was an important
stop on the Underground Railroad.
Fisher Mansion
Fisher Mansion is the only auto
baron's mansion within city limits. With 24-karat gold-leaf
ceilings, it was modeled after William Randolph Hearst's San Simeon
and is now a vegetarian restaurant and cultural center.
Comerica Park\
Home of the Detroit Tigers, this is no ordinary
ballpark. Combination theme park, ballpark, and baseball museum, it
features huge statues of tigers, a Ferris wheel, carousel and
a fountain that celebrates each home run with colored lights and
music.
New Detroit Science Center
Science is made fun and exciting in this hands-on,
interactive science center, which introduces science, engineering
and technology in ways that children can understand. Complete with
an IMAX® Dome theater.
Belle Isle
This large urban park on Belle Isle in the middle
of the Detroit River contains the Belle Isle Zoo and was designed by
Frederick Law Olmstead.
