• James Whitcomb Riley Museum  Home
  Is a lovely two-storied, red brick, Victorian style home tucked in Indianapolis' historic Lockerbie neighborhood.  The James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home was named a National Historic Landmark in 1962 and is open to the public for tours.  As visitors step back into the 20th century along with Indiana's greatest poet James Whitcomb Riley and experience 23 years of his fascinating life.  As you spend time touring the lovely Victorian home its easy to imagine James Riley hard at work creating one of his 1,000 published poems or immersed in a favorite Charles Dickens' story by gaslight.  Visitors will also see authentic decor and furnishings including James Riley's poet writing desk, artifacts such as his top hat and cane and a portrait of his beloved dog.  James Whitcomb Riley was one of the most significant Hoosier's of all times.
