The
Indian Creek Nature Center
This
rich land was once occupied by Indians and wildlife, while the
fertile soil was great for growing plants and crops.
Established in 1973, this private organization is known as the
Indian Creek Nature Center and is made up of two hundred and forty
plus acres. Visitors can tour the remodeled 1932 dairy barn,
that displays several interactive, educational exhibits. One
of the exhibits displays several natural habitats, and there is also
a bee hive demonstration that is sure to excite the kids. The
Barn also features an observation tower, with a fantastic place to
view the beautiful grounds, catch a glimpse of some of the
native animals that live in the Indian Creek Nature Center and see
several of the gardens. The lush grounds near the barn are
home to a variety of gardens including a herb garden and a butterfly
garden. There is also a lovely Vermont style maple sugar
house, beehives, frog ponds and the beautiful prairie. As
visitors explore and discover nature's beauty you will learn
interesting facts about: old-hickory savannas, the maple sugar bush,
restored prairie lands or the pine groves & wetlands as you walk
along the foot paths that wind throughout the preserve. Indian
Creek Nature Center hosts several special events throughout the
year, there is much to learn about when you visit the Nature Center.
Visitors of all ages will enjoy visiting the Indian Creek Nature
Center.
