Rental Car in Oklahoma City

In the heart of the Midwest there's a lone state by the name of Oklahoma. Nestled in that huge state is a city by the name of Oklahoma City, this is where I went for my Basic Combat Training for the U.S Army. After my training was complete in the brisk 9 weeks that it encompassed I went to the local Budget Rent-A-Car and rented myself a luxurious Audi A4 2.0T, one of the finest production vehicles you can find for rent. It runs at a hefty 225 horsepower distributed to the wonderful All Wheel Drive system that Audi calls (Quattro). Oklahoma is the perfect place to put this Audi to test and push it to its' limits. After I picked up my A4 from the local city of Lawton I was off to the windy roads that Oklahoma had to offer. My Audi got wonderful gas mileage at 30 miles a gallon due to the efficient 2 liter turbo engine running at a high compression ratio, making the engine the number 1 engine in the world for 3 years straight and in the top 10 engines for the past 10 years, all these factors influenced my decision to rent this fine machine.

Starting off in Lawton I made my way East to Shawnee, a small Indian inspired town full of culture and small shops that offered unique gifts and souvenirs. I bought a cool tomahawk to take with me in my Black Audi for "protection", these roads are dangerous after all. I met an Indian Chief there by the name of Chief Smakee-how, he was very nice and offered me to go gambling in his casino he has there, but I wasn't there for gambling only to enjoy the open roads in my German machine. I just wanted to blow off some steam from the stressful Army Training Environment. After I left Shawnee I headed North East to Tulsa, this is a very diverse city flourished with character in every corner. Many people were lounging on their front porches drinking sweet tea, but I just blew past in my beautiful Audi. I found many new things in Tulsa that I have never seen before such as "dream catchers" and "peace pipes", they tried to sell me some, but I had my tomahawk already so I didn't feel the need to purchase more souvenirs just yet. I enjoyed the stop at traffic lights there in Tulsa, because it let me floor my 6-speed manual transmission Audi from 0 to to 60 miles per hour in just short of 5 seconds over and over again. Which is a very impressive feat for a 4 dour 2.0 liter sedan, but that's an Audi for yah.

I continued to speed out of Tulsa at a safe rate, however. Every mile I travel makes me happier that I went with Budget for my rental car. I found my self in a Claremore, Oklahoma next. This was a slow pace town that had some very friendly folks in it. I stopped and ate at a local restaurant they people called "Pop's Diner". There I had some good T-bones with potatoes and gravy. I sat window side in attempt to keep an eye on my beautiful Audi, I didn't want somebody to scratch it or ding it up. I enjoyed my food with a tall glass of milk (2%) of course. I left the waitress with a hefty tip and then proceeded on my way through Claremore and found that they have some fantastic gas stations there offering 98 octane petrol for my car, this is very hard to find in more rural areas, so I was very surprised to find this phenomenon. I filled up my 10 gallon tank and then left the city of Claremore. I then headed far south to Muskogee to experience a little more of Indian hospitality.

I find myself traveling all over the state of Oklahoma and finding little civilization everywhere I drive, it is a very rural state with much cattle being grazed and breed throughout the state - it's a bit of a culture shock to me since I am a natural city boy. The roads in Oklahoma are nice and smooth allowing me to drive my Audi to it's full potential. There are few other cars you see on the road so you can really relax while you drive knowing that you won't be side swiped by a fool who cannot drive.

There are nice rolling hills to view as well as mountainous landscapes so the view is very easy on the eyes. I decided to then just stroll on back to Lawton and return my rental car, but in doing so I enjoyed the nice state of Oklahoma. The whole rental car experience was very great, I hope to rent again from Budget, they were very friendly and very reasonably priced as well.
