Now as you may already know I’m a man of many hobbies, one thing that has been keeping most of my time lately is Rally Racing. With some spare money I’ve been saving I bought a Subaru WRX STI and began rally school in a closed course in Sebastian, Florida. Since this car is not a everyday driver we usually have to rent a truck or anything capable of pulling a trailer so we can move it from point a to point b without putting miles or risking anything going wrong with “the beast”. Now when it comes to rallying I’m no Ken Block or Travis Pastana, I’m far from it! I usually race in a lot of amateur races and since Florida is about as flat as it gets we have to drive a great distance to get to a decent track. I’m not new to driving long distances in fact I’ve been doing it as long as I’ve been driving, so I don’t mind a long road trip here and there I actually find it quite relaxing, But, back to the story a few buddies and I decided we would take a stab at the Sherwood Forest Rally in Wellsboro, PA which is quite a distance from our small town outside of Orlando, Florida. Though it’s a more miles then some of the people in the car could actually count it was much more simple to just get in a car and take off then you’d imagine. I’m a Gold member at Hertz Car Rental, and at their location at Orlando International Airport they pretty much know me by my first name! We went there and rented a Chevy Silverado, which I has previously rented last month and loved it so much I just had to get it again! Our drive up to Pennsylvania was not as bad as I thought, the best thing was I was totally surprised at how fuel efficient the Silverado was, I used to drive an older model one a few years ago and this new one was nothing like it! When we got to the rally there was a few guys who disliked the fact that we brought the car in on a trailer not knowing we came all the way from Florida! Some people always seem to think cars that are brought in on a trailer are always all show and no go. We sure were all show when it came to showing those guys who the winners were! I was so excited to come back home and share the news I didn’t even stop like I usually do! We had a great time in PA and were happy it was all possible because of Hertz.
