Tennessee Mountains

Tennessee Mountains

Biking, that was our plans this trip and we were on our way to Tennessee to get some of that rich mountain air. We already have some very nice bikes, we purchased them awhile back during one of our trips to nature reserves in New York. But now we wanted to take a trip into the mountains, we had made a few discovers while searching online and found out that we could purchase a great deal once we got up there. So we went to Thrifty Car Rental and picked up a Dodge Caliber, a sleek new car with a nice leather interior.

Once we arrived a few days later in Tennessee we quickly went to the top of the mountain, got lodging in what looked and felt like a log cabin and patiently awaited the next day. When morning came around we jumped on the bikes and started the 2 hour bike down the hill. Now where we stayed there was a map that showed where the “pit stops” were and how to get picked up by trucks that would carry you back up the hill. It was a two hour ride down the hill, and then there were options to go other places.

Tennessee MountainsNaturally we decided to take the two hour trek down the hill and see if we could go further once we got there, so off we went. We took the camera with us, which is now becoming a must for all our vacations, we stopped along the way to take image after image of the surrounding country-side. The place was beautiful, the trees were all different colors and the views were of vast distances. When we got to the bottom of the mountain we were met by a rocky trail, we checked the map and started another 2 hour journey, it didn’t come as a surprise when we were ready to go back after this second trip, going down hill is much easier than on flat ground. We paid the truck driver and headed back up the mountain, and just in time! It began raining just as lunch rolled around, and we went to the restaurant at the inn, and had some amazing country style food.

We repeated this for two more days and tried some other paths at the bottom of the hill, each time taking an abundance of pictures on the way down. When the fourth day rolled around we realized we had our fill of the bike life and made departing plans. I really don’t know how to explain it to you but this kind of simple trip was inexpensive and fun. They had places all over where you could rent bikes and the whether has to be time right, but the whole trip was fun and we enjoyed the simple life for a little while. If you are ever looking for some place to relax the mountains in Tennessee is a great place to go.
