New GPS Systems with Enterprise Rent a Car

The biggest in the business does it again. That’s right, Enterprise Rent a Car, the industry leader in fleet size alone, has added another option to their rentals to provide their customers with an optimized car rental experience. Enterprise has added a new feature that will have vacationers, or anyone who needs a rental car really, on the right track to their destinations with a brand new, state of the art Global Positioning System (GPS), called the Garmin nuvi 265W.

The new Garmin nuvi 265W is advancement in the world of GPS, allowing travelers many more options than previous GPS systems. With features like text to speech, that will tell the driver the actual name of the street, along with the distance to that street or turn. Let’s say that you are heading downtown and you plugged 1234 West Street into the GPS. Before you come up on the street, the system will inform you that you are going to “Turn right on West Street in 300 feet.” (Instead of just “Turn right in 300 feet.”) This new feature is pretty cool and it will ensure directional accuracy for the driver.

Another great feature allows the traveler to choose the route they would like to take. For example, if you are taking a route that usually requires a trip on the toll roads, you can request that the GPS find an alternate route that will take you around the toll roads. This feature will also provide multiple routes that will give you options like the fastest time or the shortest distance.

The Garmin nuvi 265W also includes a Bluetooth, hands free feature and a feature that will tell you your longitude and latitude, nearest hospitals, gas stations, emergency service departments and even the closest Enterprise location. Add on a new easy to view LCD and a great touch screen display and you will be on your way in no time at all to your favorite destination.

Enterprise maintains its best in the business customer service record because of features such as the new GPS option. Enterprise knows that to ease a customer’s worries, get them in a quality vehicle fast and provides an excellent rental car experience starting with a professional staff, means to have a customer for life.

Dollar Thrifty Strikes Deal With Ford Motor Company

Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group made a deal with the Ford Motor Company that will have Dollar Thrifty purchasing fleet vehicles from the automotive giant at least until 2012. The Dollar Thrifty group is looking to add a more diversified fleet, giving potential renters more of a choice. Beginning in 2009, customers will be able to choose from larger, longer wheel based vehicles such as extended vans and the like, as well as the cars that you would normally see in a fleet.

The big three automotive manufacturers in the United States have cut back on the amount of vehicles that they will sell to the rental car industry. Rental companies such as Thrifty, Dollar, Avis and Hertz are not purchasing as many vehicles, but instead extending the time of service on their fleet vehicles. The aim of the cuts and longer fleet service is to try to trim cost all around the board, due largely in part to the struggling economy. Thrifty Dollar Auto Group says the will still honor their commitment with Chrysler, an agreement that states the rental car group must purchase at least 75 percent of the vehicles from automotive manufacturer, and agreement that is good through the 2011 model year.

Hybrid Car Rentals

Many of us today are looking to better our environment by trying to go green. One of the hardest times to continuing being green is on vacation, but worry not because you can still do your part even when you are trying to relax on your time off. The place to start is as simple as your rental vehicle. As of late, many of the rental car companies, such as Enterprise, Alamo and National have been doing their part in bringing green into your rental car experience. Many locations around the United States have been integrating hybrid vehicles into their fleets.

Enterprise Rental Car has really stepped up their game, bringing hybrids now to over 80 locations around the country. Now, locations in states such as California, Texas, Florida, New York and Pennsylvania will see an influx of green vehicles in their parking lots. You can pick these vehicles on Enterprise’s easy to navigate web site. Although there is a premium price attached to the hybrid rentals, you can feel great about doing your part to help the environment, even on vacation.

Not only do you get to aid the environment, but you will also be saving a bit of money. Hybrids work on a mixture of gasoline and electricity, so you will be using less fuel and spending less money every time that you need to go to the gas pump.
The next time that you are visiting a city and you are need of a rental car, be sure to check around at the various rental car companies in the area to see if the offer hybrid rental vehicles. Have fun on your vacation and help the environment at the same time.
