Renting A Car In Nova Scotia

When you take a vacation, that usually means that you want a little rest and relaxation, plus a bit of site seeing. In any matter, you do not need to worry about any hang ups, especially when you are trying to get to an attraction, landmark or hot-spot in the town or city that you are visiting. The best way to get around a town that you are vacationing in is to rent a vehicle and head out on your own.

No matter what part of the world that you are planning to visit, you can be certain that there will be something unique that you will take back with you as memories and today Nova Scotia is that place. Nova Scotia is locates in the southeastern coast of Canada. The province name Nova Scotia, is roughly translated to New Scotland. Nova Scotia’s European roots can be traced as far back as 1497, when it was believed that explorer John Cabot visited small province. However, it was until 1604 that a permanent colony was established. Halifax became the capital of Nova Scotia in 1749. By then, it had already switched hand from the colonial French and the British, and of course the original inhabitants, the Mi'gma'gi.

Today, the Nova Scotia province still embraces its rich and interesting history and you’ll be able to take it all in with a vacation to “Canada’s Ocean Playground”. If history is your thing, you will definitely want to pay a visit to the Nova Scotia Citadel, as well as Pier 21 and their National Parks. After you visit all of these historical hot-spots, hop over to the Nova Scotia museum and check out their awesome exhibits. The museum boasts some outstanding exhibits that range from pre-historical artifacts of the land’s original inhabitants, exhibits that reveal stories and artifacts from the earliest explorers that include John Cabot and Samuel de Champlain. This is so much history to take in, you will be absolutely amazed.
History is not the only thing that Nova Scotia is known for. Nova Scotia’s Cape Breton Island is centered on their Gaelic heritage and you will see that as soon as you step foot in the county. What is awesome about this is that there are many wonderful shops and restaurants in this town that are a must visit. Pick up unique, handmade merchandise or try some of the delicious traditional fare, you know like some haggis or cabbage. Don’t forget to visit the Scottish and Irish pubs that are found around the town. Most of them play live traditional music that will make you want to stay there until they shut the doors on you.

Whatever you decide to do or see while you are vacationing in Nova Scotia, just make sure that you have a great time doing it and make the trip hassle free by renting a vehicle. When you have a rental vehicle at your disposal, you will be able to go anywhere that you’d like in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. Have fun and happy traveling!

Earth Day at Epcot

So we just got back from the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival and it was fantastic! We figured that we would be entering some small pavilion and looking at some exotic flowers, this was not the case. The ENTIRE PARK is the show room, absolutely evrything is made out of flowers. There are butterfly houses, gardens, huge disney characters made out of shrubs, flowers and vines. Its just incredible I really dont know how to describe it! When you first enter Epcot you stumble through the gates (always pushing and pulling) and then you are in the park. The second you are through the gates you see these massive Mickey, Minnie and Goofie shrubbery and flower made decorations, nearly twice the size of yourself! Goofie is surfing, Minning is laying in a flower bed and Mickey is standing on the beach! The Butterfly Gardens are amazing, they arent just 10 or 11 butterflies, there are hundereds of them inside these tents, all over the walls and in the plants. All the butterflies had vibrant colors and seemed like something out of picture book! Every area of the park had something new, wherever you went there was something pertaining to that areas theme in the park. There was also a showing room, a long hallway where you could buy exotic flowers and see some the most advanced gardening tools out there. All around the parks were demonstrations on how the plants are taken care of and where they come from. You have gotta go to this, and fast! it's going to be gone soon!

The rental car industry has certainly felt the pinch of the sluggish economy, and some more than others. Unfortunately, Advantage vehicle rentals felt the full force of the economy when they had to file bankruptcy last year. Hertz Global Holdings bought out the ailing Advantage for $33 million this Thursday. The rental car giant beat out every other rental car company, such as Enterprise, that bid on the Advantage brand.

Advantage had many locations across the country, and Hertz plans to keep 20 of those locations open and running. Hertz also plans to keep Advantage as its alternative brand to sell to its accounts in the corporate sector. Hertz believes that they can up their annual profits by acquiring the Advantage name. Not only that, but Hertz also hopes to boost its already large number of online bookings.

Be to check out some of the great deals on thier rental cars in the area that you plan to take your next vacation.

Florida Beaches

We flew in from New York as snowbirds, because it started to snow on Long Island we decided it was time to go to our vacation home in Kissimmee. In our haste we took an airplane and decided that we would rent a car when we got here. We rented a car off of RentalCarMomma.com just before we landed and spent the night at our vacation home. The next morning we did what all Snow Birds do, we took the car and drove to the beach, specifically Sebastian Inlet. My wife lay in the sun, while I went fishing on the rocks; the sky was perfectly blue and the fish were biting (I say this after the fact). I caught two schnook and three red snappers. We walked along the beachside and watched the tons of servers riding six foot high waves, they were awfully close to the pier, and we thought that one of them might hit the rocks. In the inlet there were several manatees and we had to be careful that we didn’t snag any of our lines on them. Some of the fishermen there had caught barracuda and the local fishing shop said it was common to catch a fish and only real half of it up. In short, the barracuda always wanted the fish you had on your line. There were many kids on the beach digging up holes and making little castles. We spent a lot of time out on the pier; there were many Jet Ski’s riding in the surf, and trying to catch the dolphins that appeared all day long. Overall the beaches in Florida are amazing, if you get a chance be sure to visit Sebastian Inlet, the area is great.
