Hertz Buying Up Cars...And More Cars

Everyone can feel the pinch of the slowing economy. However, this is not stopping people from taking vacations and renting vehicles. In fact, one rental Car Company in particular, Hertz, is buying up all the vehicles that they can during the lull.

Hertz says that they intend to buy up vehicles from dealerships around the world, many of which have an excess of vehicles that are selling at relatively inexpensive prices. The rental car giant recently spent 350 million dollars on new cars for their fleet, that’s about 16,000 vehicles. Hertz says that their business has more than leveled off, even in this time of the economic downturn, and has actually turned a profit.

Hertz foresees their business climbing, as people are managing to take vacations and rent Hertz vehicles. They forecast this trend to take place at every Hertz location around the world, especially their European locations. Hertz offer phenomenal deals and specials, making it easy than ever for the customer to get in their rental car and go.

Be sure to keep an eye out for great discount that Hertz will roll out for this upcoming time of summer travel.

When Renting A Vehilce, Choose One The Fits Your Needs

Sure, everyone knows that the smartest way to get around a city that you are visiting is top rent a vehicle. Renting a vehicle gives you the freedom to go wherever you, wherever you want…sort of. Have you ever decided to visit a place, perhaps outside of the city limits, say in the country or the like? If you have, you probably noticed that not all of the roads are paved like big city roads. That is why a normal vehicle just will not do on rocky, uneven, or even unpaved roads. Well, fret not because all you have to do it rent a vehicle that is built for such terrain, a four-wheel drive vehicle.

Let’s say that, for a change of regular vacation atmosphere, you decided to fly the family out to Colorado for a nice trip in the great outdoors. You get there and realize that everything that you would like to do it a bit off the beaten path. No, a small or even compact car will not do, because one, you cannot fit all of your family’s travel gear in a small car and two, the car just won’t make to some of your destinations. Not to worry, because there are plenty of four-wheel drive rental vehicles all around Colorado, so you do not miss out on any outdoor activity that you may have planned.

With a four-wheel drive rental, you can easily get to your white water rafting on the Colorado River, travel up to in the high mountains for a great time skiing in Aspen or drive deep into the wilderness for a relaxing and fun time camping. Whatever outdoor activities that you decide to do while you are there, you can be sure that you will not have any problems get in or out with a rental vehicle that is a four-wheel drive.

If outdoor activities are not your thing, you can always rent a car and get around the town just as easily. There are many options when you decide to rent a vehicle, and depending on what you want to do, you can be sure that there is a rental vehicle out there to meet your every need. So, get out there on the road, or even off the road, and have fun when you rent a vehicle.

Renting A Car

There are a number of ways to get around a city that you are visiting. Sure, you have the public transportation system, but depending on what city you are visiting, that could prove to be more of a hassle than help. That is why my family and I always choose to rent a vehicle whenever you go out of town for a visit.

For us, renting a vehicle just seems like the sensible thing to do. We like to know that we can go anywhere we’d like, with relative ease, with a vehicle rental. We do not have to depend on the sometimes unpredictable schedule that public transportation maintains. It gives you a real peace of mind to know that you are not stuck in the middle of the city that you are visiting, that you can get up and go to any hot spot, restaurant or store that you need to.

When you decide on a car rental, you know that the company that you pick to handle this is very important. You can guarantee a great and reliable car, at a fair and reasonable price when you choose from companies like Hertz, Enterprise, Dollar and Thrifty. Their friendly and courteous service will have you out of the door and in your car in no time at all, so you can get out on the town.
So, the next time that you are on vacation and your wishing for something to do, go rent a vehicle and make the most out of your vacation.

Renting A Vehicle In Split, Croatia

My wife and I just returned home from a long vacation. We were lucky enough to spend some time wandering around the Mediterranean coast. We visited some most amazing cities while we were there, places like Santorini, Athens, Venice, Rome and Barcelona. However, there was one city, in particular, that we were very excited to see, and that city is Split in Croatia. The city just recently opened its port for cruise ships, allowing for an influx of visitors to crowd its streets, shops and restaurants.

As my wife and I walked down the hallway to catch the tender going to shore, we were greeted with an absolutely amazing panoramic view of the city of Split. The crowded buildings lined the foothills of the surrounding mountains, as well as clusters of building that found their way up the side of the mountain. To the left, we saw a marina that hosted some of the most magnificent sailboats that I have ever seen. The mast of one of the sailboats boomed high in the sky and split the sun in half, causing an interesting, reflecting glint on the surface of the deep blue water. As the tender arrived at the dock, we saw the 1700 year old castle, the city’s landmark, and it was surrounded by modern shops and restaurants, something I found to be quite interesting. M wife noticed that the locals were using the same markets and restaurants that the tourists were using. I guess we made it there before the city turned into a big “tourist town”.

We were very pleased with the city itself; however we were quite disappointed when we found out that all the activities were shut down, due to the fact that it was Sunday. We were perplexed about what to do; I mean there are only so many times you can walk in and out of a castle, no matter how beautiful it is. So, what we decided to do was rent a car and go see what the rest of the city had to offer. We were told about a pretty little park that was about an hour away, so we jumped in the rental car and headed to the park.

That is the great thing about renting a vehicle, we were able to just get out and see what the rest of the city had to offer. If we didn’t decide to rent a car, we would’ve been stuck in the area around the port with nothing to do. Keep a rental car in mind the next time you find yourself on vacation and nothing to do. With a rental vehicle, you have the freedom to go where ever you want and see what the city has to offer.

Ore Family Vacation to Montana

We have family that lives in Columbus and Twin Bridges Montana so this is where we usually vacation. Before our children, my husband and I would fly into Billings and drive 45 minutes to the small town of Columbus. Now that we have our children we have been driving to Montana for the past ten plus years. We are hard core travelers with no stops except for gas and that's the only bathroom break unless it's an emergency.

As the kids got older we started to stop at educational landmarks, popular attractions or anything that looked like fun along the way. As we set out driving from Florida and into Georgia our hurdle was not to get stuck in hours of traffic as we approach the Big City of Atlanta. Instead of taking the by-pass we went right through Downtown Atlanta the city is so large it seems like you have driven for a couple of hours and you are still in the out-skirts of the huge city. Not a whole lot in Tennessee next, we went through Kentucky in the past trips we visited Mammoth Cave National Park and toured one of the Caves the kids were younger and we had a blast. Illinois and Missouri were next, in Missouri we saw the St. Lois Arch awesome this was a big hit with everyone. Then we were off through Iowa and South Dakota. South Dakota has several interesting places to visit Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Sturgis and Deadwood all very educational the kids had a great time. Next was Wyoming and Devil's Tower and finally we were in Montana !!!! If you don't stop along the way you can make it to Montana in two days with a rental car in Montana.

Montana is one of the most beautiful states I have ever visited my father moved there fourteen years ago and we have spent allot of time visiting and vacationing in Montana (at least twice a year) we try to find different places in Montana we haven't been before. One of our favorite places to visit is Yellowstone National Park we have been there at least six times. Our favorite entrance is the North-East through Gardner. This entrance is the most scenic and the oldest Mammoth Hot Springs and Roosevelt Lodge Cabins are very popular. You could spend a week in Yellowstone and not see everything the Geysers, Paint Pots, Waterfalls and the wildlife is a big hit with the kids. It's amazing to be driving through the park and all of a sudden everyone is stopping for a glimpse of wildlife crossing the road. We have seen Black Bears (mother and Cub), Moose, Deer, Elk and herds of Buffalo. It is very common for Buffalo to cross the roads at any given time, even if they have babies the Buffalo will walk along side of your car this is a great up close look they are so enormous... Yellowstone is a must see if you visit Montana it will leave you speechless the first time you visit, our family still talks about it and every year when we plan out trip to Montana they all want to go to Yellowstone.

A few other family favorites are Red Lodge and the Bear Tooth Highway Pass. Red Lodge is a small, historical, tourist town full of shopping (speciality boutiques & One-of-a-kind stores) bars and fantastic restaurants. Our favorite dining spots include Bogart's- the best Mexican food and Margarita's, The restaurant located inside The Pollard Hotel and the Wine Bar restaurant. Red Lodge is a fun town we visit here every time we visit Montana. The family snow skies in Red Lodge it is close to Columbus and several of the locals ski here as well. We love the town of Red Lodge we were here one year during Christmas the whole town was decorated it was so beautiful and full of winter activities and parades for the whole family.

The Bear Tooth Highway Pass is a must see !!!! The first time we drove the pass was on our way to Yellowstone National Park and it is breathtaking. Last year when we were in Montana we borrowed a motorcycle and drove over the Beartooth Pass it was amazing!!!! It was in July so it was very hot as we climbed to an elevation over 10,947 feet it turned very COLD!!!! As we road along the curvy, steep, hair-pin roads with no guard rails offering some of the most spectacular mountain views we have ever seen it was like we were free-flying. It was so AWESOME!!!! Along our ride we stopped at Top of The World gift shop and small store here you could find souvenirs, tee-shirts and other one-of-a-kind gifts. The Beartooth Highway Pass is closed during the winter months so if you visit during the summer this is a must see the views are so spectacular it will take your breath away...

Montana is our favorite vacation destination there is so much to see and do offering several fantastic outdoor activities including rafting the Yellowstone River, Fly Fishing (so much fun), camping, hiking and much more. We are looking forward to our annual road trip to Montana this year.

Auschwitz

2007 marked the second time I trekked the globe and took a trip to Europe. It was quite extraordinary to say the least, but this was expected. The countries: Poland, Czech Republic, and Germany; each of which had their own stories to tell to the world, more specifically our family for the short time we spent between their borders. I'm not going to spend my time writing about the whole trip. Such a story would end up becoming an epic novel. But I will spill some information about the most influential destination I encountered.
All it took was a quick stroll between blocks 10 and 11. 'The Death Wall' stood solitary, staring at the crowd that was taking pictures or leaving it flowers and sympathy. This one spot was responsible for thousands upon thousands of deaths inside Auschwitz. Now I understood the significance of the camp from the start, but when you stand on the same ground that so many people did before they gave up their innocent lives, you understand everything just a little bit differently.
Auschwitz isn't as large as you would imagine. The main area of buildings was only about 1/2 mile squared. The gas chambers stood just outside the holding facitilies' gates. The conditions that the prisoners lived in were absolutely atrocious, more than likely crawling with disease and sickness when 30 people are crammed into an area built for 5. To think that this was the smaller of the two Auschwitz camps was mind blowing.
Not far from the first Auschwitz was its second camp, Auschwitz II - Birkeneau. Birkeneau was about 10 times the size of the original Auschwitz camp. This camp was the largest extermination camp throughout the Holocaust, killing more than 1 million prisoners, mostly being Jews and Poles. The prisoners were kept in horse stables and starved beyond imaginable. The ruins left today show nearly 1 million visitors per year of how cruel the Nazis were.
Though it wasn't the most heartwarming place to visit, it was definitely worth the trip. Actually seeing what these people had to go through does so much more than any book or video on the subject could possibly do. It really opens your eyes to what our world has seen. This can easily be put on the list of places you have to visit.
