North Carolina

We had long been desiring to go skiing again, we said previously, or a long time ago how good we used to be. Now I am getting older but I don’t think I am to old, so we picked a place out we could stop on the way back south. We decided to go skiing in the Appalachian Mountains, around the town of Blowing Rock. One of the cool things about the area is that they rent houses out for very short periods of time, especially during the winter around the skiing season.

We began our way back down south and if your remember National gave us a Dodge Journey after our Chevrolet Taho got permanently decommissioned. We began our way through the states and when we arrived in North Carolina our jaws dropped. The place is beautiful during the winter; it's just gorgeous covered in snow. Not only that but the place we stayed was high up in the mountains with an amazing view of... well of everything.

The next few days we went skiing, it was fun, although we never really ran any of the big slopes we enjoyed or leisurely glide. The best part about the skiing was the 20 inches of snow that had recently come down just before we got there. Apparently 80% of the towns residents were out of power during Christmas. A huge ice storm had ripped through an enormous amount of power lines, and our cabin was only fixed hours before we got there, otherwise we to would have been out of electricity.

North Carolina or the Appalachian Mountains are beautiful, we were so glad to get a chance to go exploring the magnificent country-side. We spent most of our time on scenic routes in the car or nature walks around the lake. Our most fun probably came from the scenic walks; we found so many great photo opportunities and an abundance of beautiful sites!
