• El Avila National Park
  Along the Cordillera de la Costa Mountains which surround Caracas, lies El Avila National Park. El Avila was established a park in 1958 and is over 81,800 hectares. The park has over 2,000 different species of plants in the forest and around 700 different types of animals inhabiting the area. A cable car will take you to the highest point of the park which is 2,135 m above sea level and then back down the other side.

  Known as the National  Cathedral of Caracas, the first cathedral was built in 1641 when an earthquake destroyed it. Roughly 20 years later the building of the present church begun to  in 1665 through 1713. The Cathedral is located at the eastern end of the Plaza Bolivar and is also the home to the Bolivar family. Connected to the cathedral is the Museo Sacro de Caracas that exhibits many religious art and sculptures. Also housed in the church was the ecclesiastical prison, though it has been restored, it still resembles its past.
