Things to do in London

• The Museum of Ontario Archaeology
  Houses over two million artifacts for analysis and maintains a public gallery representing over thousands of years of occupation in southwestern Ontario.  Located across from the museum is the Lawson Provincial Heritage and Archaeological Dig site. This site has been identified as an area occupied from 1475-1500 AD. Here on the excavated portions sits a semi-permanent village featuring a reconstructed palisade, earthworks, two longhouses and a maze. This site was carefully situated for defensive purposes with access to fresh water, plants, wild game and fish along with other natural resources necessary for survival during early inhabitants of Ontario, Canada. Visiting this site will take you back in time to 15th century Ontario.
  Also found here are cultivated crops grown by the village inhabitants. Beans, corn and squash are the three basic vegetables in their diet. The Museum of Ontario Archaeology is a fantastic place to bring the family for the day. Several camps are offered full of plenty of opportunities to explore along with several hands on activities. Each camp provides knowledge as well as the chance to participate in archaeology digs. The Lawson site is well known and respected as an area where 1500 Iroquoian speaking Neutral Indians lived in a village over 500 years ago.
   

• Covent Garden Market
  Established in 1845, the Covent Garden Market is one of London's most treasured cultural landmarks. In the past years farmers and shoppers would gather and mingle on sawdust covered floors where everything and anything was sold from fresh fruits and meats to fire wood. Today the Covent Garden Market continues to be the center of exchange featuring items from the best: organic foods, award winning meats, variety of ethnic foods and the largest selection of cheese in Southwestern Ontario along with beautiful, fresh flowers & sweets. • The Forest City Velodrome
  Is one of only three indoor cycling tracks in North America. The Forest City Velodrome opened in April of 2005, and is located in the south end of London. The track was the former Ice House hockey arena, here spectators will enjoy a variety of over 3,000 seats all offering an up close view of  several exciting races reaching speeds of 60 kilometers per hour.
  The Velodrome is an indoor bicycle racing track that is banked at 50 degrees in the corners and 16 degrees in the straight. The cyclists use special bicycles that have no brakes and a single gear, all track bikes are direct drive you can't coast you have to keep peddling. Tracks vary in length from 125 to 450 meters, the Forest City Velodrome is 142 meters in length (seven laps to the kilometer). The steepness of the track can be some what intimidating at first glance with proper instruction provided by the experienced coaches and trained riders on the track even beginners can experience the thrill of Velodrome riding. For all the experienced racers this track rides like a human powered roller coaster wow what a rush.

London Children's Museum

Fanshawe Pioneer Village
Is an early example of  the museum style known as a Pioneer Village, developed in the mid 20th century Ontario by the Conservation Authorities. This type of museum was created as a natural extension of  the Conservation Authorities to provide an alternate use of heritage buildings that were relocated during the creations of water reservoirs. Fanshawe Pioneer Village has grown to over thirty original and replica buildings set on 46 acres. Fanshawe Pioneer Village tells the story of rural communities from 1820 to 1920, be sure to visit the Denfield General store this was the general store and post office for the community of Denfield from 1877 to 1952. The General Store is decorated with unique period pieces such as a store counter, cash register and the postmaster's table. The store is filled with unique gifts, children's toys, candy, period reproductions, jewelry and much more. Throughout the year there are several special events for the whole family to enjoy. • Eldon House
  The Eldon House was built in 1834 and is the oldest surviving private residence in London. If you enjoy visiting historic sites you will enjoy a visit to the Eldon House. Captain John and his wife Amelia Harris moved to London in 1834 after retiring from the British Royal Navy.
