• Drayton Hall Southern Plantation House
  Is one of the oldest plantations in the South to survive the Civil War, the American Revolution, hurricanes and the earthquake of 1886.  This beautiful Georgian style mansion is located in Charleston, South Carolina and was built by the Drayton family who came to the area in 1679.  The mansion was built in 1738 and was owned by the Drayton family for over seven generations.  In 1974 the Drayton Mansion was received by the National Trust, with a mission to preserve and keep the mansion in its near-original condition.  In addition to the amazing architecture of the mansion the undisturbed grounds are a significant piece of American history.  Within the home of Drayton Hall Plantation visitors will learn the stories of  family, race, sacrifice and culture.  Visitors can tour this historic Plantation, participate in a short program using historic maps, artifacts and historic documents to trace the story of slavery.
