• Bennington Battle Monument
  Is one of the tallest, historic structures in Vermont.  This tall Monument commemorates the historic Battle of Bennington, a battle that lead to the turning point in the Revolutionary War.  The Bennington Battle Monument is a popular tourist attraction that should not be missed on your visit to Bennington.  The Monument is a 306 foot tall structure made of stone formed into an obelisk shape.  The Bennington Battle Monument opened to the public in 1891 featuring an elevator that can take you to the top observation deck offering spectacular views of rolling hills and  valleys of three states: Vermont, New York and Massachusetts.  The Monument is open seven days a week from 9:00a.m. to 5:00p.m.  form mid April thru October 31st.  Bennington Battle Monument is lit from dusk until 10:00p.m. each Friday & Saturday evening and for all holidays, Flag Day, Independence Day, Bennington Battle Weekend, Veteran's Day, Pearl Harbor Day, Hanukkah, Rosh Hashanah  Thanksgiving Week, Mother's Day and Father's Day.  Also located on the grounds near the  Monument, are  several additional historic Monuments.  The second largest monument is the heroic figure of Seth Warner carved from granite.  Seth Warner was the commander of the Green Mountain Boys who helped defeat the British forces.  This Monument was donated in 1910 by Colonel Olin Scott.  Another interesting Monument is a large granite boulder housing a bronze tablet that was placed in honor of General John Stark along with 1,400 New Hampshire men who were involved in the great Battle. This Monument was donated in 1977 by the citizens of New Hampshire.  In 2000 a bronze statue of General John Stark was donated to the Memorial.  The statue was cast form a plaster model that was created by an American sculptor John Rogers in 1889.  A number of other memorials are on the grounds around the main Monument: Bennington Battle Monument.  When you are visiting Bennington, Vermont be sure to visit the Monument you will have the opportunity to learn many interesting, historical facts about Bennington.

• State Wrestling Champions Mount Anthony Patriots
  The town of Bennington is home to the 21 time defending State Wrestling Champions the Mount Anthony Patriots.  The Mount Anthony Patriots are the local High School Wrestling team.  The Patriots have won 21 consecutive Vermont State Wrestling Championships under the guidance of head coach Scott Legacy.  Mr. Legacy has been coaching the wrestling team for several years and he continues to lead the famous Mount Anthony Patriots to victory!!!!  Recently Spaulding came close to clenching the victory over Mount Anthony from its twenty-year reign as State Wrestling Champions but fell short as the Patriots brought home the victory once again....  The Patriots came on in the later rounds to claim the win the 40th Annual Vermont State Wrestling tournament in Essex.  The Mount Anthony Patriots won it's 21st consecutive Championship with 229.5 points.  Followed up by The Crimson Tide with 216.5 points landing them in second place.  Finishing with a 13 point lead, the Patriots made it the closest State Championship in twenty-two years !!!!!  Way to go Mount Anthony Patriots......
