Animals are exciting and fun. When we see something strange outside our windows that we don’t recognize what do we do? We get a camera and start taking pictures we watch it. Animals that we don’t see every day are even more exciting, and that is where a Zoo comes in. If you are visiting Broken Arrow take a quick ride over to the Tulsa Zoo and Living Museum. The Tulsa Zoo has been open for many years and is raising lots of exotic animals. In fact they have over 2,500 animals currently. Admission is cheap for there being that many animals to see adults get in for $8, kids get in for $4 and seniors for $6. That is a really good deal; if you do the math out for an adult it costs 19% of one cent to see an animals. I don’t know about you but that is what I call affordable. The Tulsa Zoo offers other fun activities besides just walking around and looking at all the exciting animals. There is also the chance to have an animal encounter. Currently Tulsa is showcasing a Giraffe encounter. In this encounter you will get face to face with a 17-foot tall giraffe. Better then just being face to face to will be able to feed these huge mammals. Giraffes have 18 inch tongues and you will be able to see quite a bit of it when they grab leaves out of your hands with it. If being up and personal with an animal that large isn’t your cup of tea be sure to check out the animal feedings throughout the day. You can see the zookeepers feed Penguins, Aldabra Tortoises, and even see them play with elephants. The Tulsa Zoo is a must see if you are in the area. Stop by for an hour or the whole day either way you leave with a smile on your face.

Its not often that on vacation that I would want to go to a factory. I make exceptions however when that factory happens to be a Blue Bell Creamery. Blue Bell built its Broken Arrow manufacturing facility in 1992 and has been creating delicious creamy ice cream ever since. The creamery offers tour Monday through Friday from 9- 2 pm; they are by appointment only so if you are planning a visit give them a call first. The tour only costs $3 for adults and $2 for kids and seniors. The tour is 45 minutes long and you will get to see the step by step process of how Blue Bell makes that delicious ice cream. At then end of the tour you will even get to sample some ice cream that just recently came off the line. Blue Bell is always coming out with new flavors of their half-gallon ice cream. Two of the their most recent creations has been Red Velvet Cake and Strawberry Banana Pound cake. Blue Bell also has variations of their delicious ice cream like no sugar added and their light cream. If you are looking for a non-dairy choice then take a crack at the non-fat yogurt or the colorful sherbet.
