Water parks are just a joy and especially in the south with summer can get hot and muggy. Decatur residents are lucky as they have access to Point Mallard. The point is a great collection parks that can entertain friends and family for days on end. Point Mallard has 5 different parks but my favorite is the water park. The park is open daily from 10am – 6pm, it seven open till 8pm on Tuesday and Thursdays. The water park is a great place to spend the entire day there are fun slides and pools for all ages. The wave pool that Point Mallard has was built in 1970 and is in fact the first Wave Pool in America. Even in its age the wave pool is great and has been refurbished over the years keeping it in great shape. Point mallard water park also has a selection of slides for its guests. There is the common tube slide is riders can experience solo or as a duo with a tandem inter-tube. I can’t leave out the mat slide either, sometime known as racers these sides let groups race against each other. Plunge headfirst in a race against your friends or total strangers either way it is sure to be a blast. Mallard park is a great place to take the family pricing is great at 13 bucks for kids 5-11 and 18 for teens and adults. To make things even better admission is half price during the week from Monday to Thursday.

Mallard park is a big part of Decatur, AL over 30,000 people have shown their appreciation for the park on Facebook alone. The water park my be one of Point Mallard Parks most popular features however the Point still has a lot to offer. The entire complex is comprised of a Golf Course, Ice Skating rink, Camp Grounds, and a Strike Zone. The Strike Zone is another fun place to visit on a regular basis. It’s a driving range and batting cage. Strike Zone is open from 10-8 daily. The Batting cage is great it deliver consist pitches for your practice and enjoyment, it’s a delight to be able to stand there and perfect your swing. The Driving Range is also a great delight, the grass is well kept and the balls are not the normal cheap quality you find at most ranges. Pricing for the bating cage is 1 buck for a token which gets you 20 pitches, or for 20 bucks you can get 500 pitch and will keep you busy for hours. The driving range is also well priced at 3.50 for a small bucket or 7 for large. If you want to get inside then head to Point mallard Ice Complex that is open daily to the public during public hours its only 4 bucks to get in and get skates. If you like hockey the complex hosts a pick up game Wednesday and Sunday nights its just 10 bucks a person.
