I have a grandfather who loved trains, in his retirement he transformed his garage into a huge model train set. He spent his time crafting mountains and model towns around the tracks. Its absolutely amazing and one of a kind. Model trains are in a stage of dying out but are still largely popular as a collector’s piece. In 1951 at the height of model trails a couple decided to open a burger joint. They crated it with a twist however. They had the great idea of delivering hamburgers to their guests on the back of a train. They didn’t mean huge 10,000 ton trains but instead small model trains with baskets on the back. The idea kicked off and even was able to compete with the nearby hamburger joint that opened up down the road that went by the name of McDonalds. The Choo-Choo Restaurant was owned and operated by James and Marilyn Ballowe for 25 years. The restaurant has changed hands however the same Choo-Choo principle. Hamburgers are created fresh to order on a flat top grill then plated into red baskets and put atop a train that delivers them to guests. The burgers are ground from USDA gchuck and come straight from the local butcher shop. The burger hits the 340 degree flattop at a ball then is made into a patty the old fashion way with the spatula. Choo-choo restaurant has been around for quite some times and proved itself as a great restaurant. Kids and fathers alike will enjoy this place.
