Right outside of Johnson City you can find the National History Museum. This was one of children’s favorite stops this summer. They were able to learn and play all at the same time. While exploring they got to see the new Microbes exhibit. This exhibit highlights the small but abundant life on our planet. It was filled with black lights and neon paint which really keep my kids attention. The whole rest of the trip they were reminding me to wash my hands because all the small things will get me. They always have new exhibits coming in; you will have to check out their website to see what is coming. If you come in may beware that the Robot Zoo will be in full force. These robots will show visitors how animals move and ever go as far as how a chameleon changes colors. The National History Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30- 5:00. Admission for this museum varies depending if you want to take the amazing Gray Fossil Site Tour. This leads you through a guided tour of the museum. If you have been to the museum before and just want to see the new exhibits or vice versa its cheaper. The price of the site tour is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and $3 for kids. If you want to see the new exhibits the price is just a dollar more at $6, $5, and $4 for adults, seniors, and kids respectfully. If you want to see everything in the same day you really should spring for an all-access pass that saves adults a dollar.

After stuffing your brain with information from the National History Museum you will just want a day of fun. Fun Expedition will be just the place. With 11 different attractions to choose from you and your family won’t go a moment without something to do. My favorite thing was their two story laser tag arena. With up to 32 players pitted against each other in mortal combat there can’t be anything better. Black lights and fog make this the best place hang with friends and get a one up on them. After spending hours in the laser tag arena you will have to take to the go-karts. If its raining head inside to the indoor course and spine around the track, if it’s a beautiful day out stay outside and ride on the quarter mile of track. Fun expedition also has a huge inside inflatable course. This course includes 7 different floats that will keep the kids happy for hours. My favorite thing when I was a kid was climbing walls. At fairs, carnivals, or Disney I would always beg my parents to let me do it. Fun expedition has a giant 24 foot indoor climbing wall. Fun expedition also has a special brand of bumper cars, unlike most that have heavy steal siding these cars are a giant inter-tube with a motor attached. The cars can turn on time latterly; they can spin in a circle with making make it easy to get out of a stick situation.
