    The California State Railroad Museum is located in Old Sacramento, California and pays honor and tribute to the mighty "iron horse" that connected the state with the rest of the nation. The museum highlights 21 masterfully renovated locomotives and rail cars with a few dating back to 1862. A full scale diorama depicts the 1860s construction site that was located high in the Sierra Nevada, that showcases the locomotive Gov. Stanford, plus a bridge that is raised 24 feet above the floor. They have reconstructed a passenger station and a freight depot from 1867 that is just a block from the museum, and in the summer, there is a steam train that will take visitors from the depot to Miller Park and back again by the Sacramento River that uses their tourist line, the Sacramento Southern Railroad.
