There are plenty of things to check out while you are in Sheridan and we suggest that you start off with the Trail End Historic Site. This mansion was built in 1913 and was the home of John Benjamin Kendrick. Kendrick was a cattle rancher who served as governor of Wyoming before being elected to three terms as a United States senator. Today the mansion stands as an open museum known as Trail End. Many of the originally furnishings of the house are still around and as you walk through the house you will be able to see life in the house portrayed similar to how it was. Many of the interpretive labels and signs at Trail End discuss the advanced technology installed in the house during its construction. There is always a fun and informative exhibit on display in the mansion. Personal favorites include: "No Time For Boredom: Making the Most of Leisure Time in a Screenless Society," which examines how people spent their free time before televisions, cell phones and other "screens." Also on display “Youngsters To Be Proud Of: The Changing Nature of Childhood As Seen Through Three Generations of Kendrick Family Children,” examines how childhood life has changed from the mid 1800s to the end of the 1930s. There is always something exciting going on within the walls of the mansion here in Sheridan.
