At first I wasn’t very thrilled about traveling through Iowa. I didn’t know what the state had to offer and did not know what to expect. When traveling through Sioux City I was pleased to find The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, it was more than I expected. This was because about the only thing that I knew about Iowa was the two guys off American Pickers had their shop in Iowa. I was not easy to impress though the Interpretive Center was a great place to stop and stretch our legs. One of the most impressive sights to see at the center was a 14 foot tall statute of Lew and Clark. This huge piece of bronze can be seen from quite a distant. It depicts the duo in their prime with Clark in full uniform, he is even wearing his giant hat and feather plume. One of the most interesting parts of the stature is The dog Seaman. The dog sits between the two men and is about 5 feet tall. Making it one of the largest dogs I’ve ever been face to face with. The bronze statue is a wonder to see both up close and afar. Up close you can take in all the fine detail that the artist Pat Kennedy put into it. If you step back the finer details fade away but then the imagination takes over and fills in the gabs with even finer details then could be depicted from a close. The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center is a great place to stop by and there is much more to see and do then just take a look at the giant statue.

I’ve found myself a few times siting in a restaurant thinking this is amazing food. I wish they would open a restaurant near home. Every once in a while when I think that it turns out the place is a small chain that I’ve never noticed before. Famous Dave’s was just one of those places. I was traveling in Sioux City and needed some dinner. I ran across Famous Dave’s and decided to give it a shot. I’ve ate at a lot of restaurants and figured it couldn’t be the worst I’ve eaten. Famous Dave’s was far from the worst it was absolutely diclinous. It wasn’t till I was about half way through my dish that I noticed the other locations on the bottom of the desert menu. I was amazed and happy because it meant I could try all the delicious food that Famous Dave’s had to offer. I could only eat so much food in one night and one meal was more than enough to fill me and my to go box up. I got none other than “The Big Slab” this huge slab of ribs consists of 12 bones that are pit-smoked for 3-4 hours then smothered with load of BBQ sauce then tossed on the hot grill to seal in the flavor and give them a crispy outside. The ribs come with two sides and there were so many to chose from I wanted to try them all. I decided to get the Warm Drunkin’ Apples and the Famous thick cut French fries.
