Smyrna is a small town in the north part of Georgia. It’s a great out doors city with many parks and trails to enjoy in the mild Georgia weather. One of the most spectacular trails in Georgia is the Silver Comet Trail. This trail is currently over 61 miles long! It starts in Smyrna and ends at the Georgia/Alabama border. The entire trail is paved made from age old roads that are no longer used. It’s a beautiful place to explore. Take a bike ride and see how people in Georgia 50-70 years ago would travel. On the small roads, you can see land makes that can’t be see from the main roads any longer. There is a trail in Alabama much like the Silver Comet named Chief Ladiga Trail its 31 miles longer and the end of the trail is just 7 miles from the Silver Comet. There is a plan in action to extend the two tails to connect and form a trail over 100 miles long that is completely paved and stretches from Smyrna Georgia to Anniston, Alabama. This trail is perfect to exercise on as it has a 2% grade giving you the benefit of running, walking, or biking on an incline. The Trail is a great place to bring pets as it is a free trail and no restrictions on pets. Just do remember to bring water as sometime the water fountains along the trail are not functional.

As I said above Smyrna is an outdoors town and it has two great golf courses to try while traveling through. The two are Legacy Golf Links and the other Fox Creek Golf Club. These courses are both top notch and one of a kind. Legacy Golf is a par 58 executive courses that is built right up into the Georgia forest. Its surrounded by pines to give golfers the feeling of being hidden away. The course was designed by Larry Nelson a past PGA player and native to the state of Georgia. Legacy can be bother quick and challenging depending on your level of play but suitable for all abilities and ages. It also has a pro shop that can take you from Joe Blow in plain shorts to a pro in the mater of 20 minutes. They have everything you need to get out on the greens. Much like Legacy Golf Links, Fox Creek Golf Club is tucked away in the Georgia pines. This makes for a beautiful course almost anytime of the year. Fox Creek features a 62 par course that is slightly longer then the par 58 legacy Golf links. Fox Creek also has PGA professionals that are on hand to assist in lessons from beginners to professionals. Smyrna is a great place for the whole family there is lots of outdoor places to explore in a small town atmosphere.
