Things to do in Woonsocket

Museum of Work and Culture If you are visiting Rhode Island or more specifically Woonsocket and looking for something to do then the Museum of Work and Culture is a great place to start. It is especially a great thing to do on a rainy day. It takes your mind off the cold rain outside and takes you back in time to the industrial revolution. More specifically it takes you back to when the mills and factory’s were being run by French-Canadian immigrants. The Museum of Work and Culture is operated by the Rhode Island Historical Society who maintains two beautiful museums in Rhode Island the first it the John Brown House Museum in the capital city of Providence and the second is this Work and Culture Museum. The idea behind this museum is to teach guests not only about he mill and factories but also about the people who worked at them and the lives which they lived. IT takes you outside of the walls of the factory and brings you into a home which they would have lived at or a classroom where their children would have been taught. The museum is open all week except for Monday admission is just 8 bucks for adults and 6 for students and seniors. Kids under the age of 10 are free with an adults and if you have 10 or more people its just 6 bucks a person.

What to eat in Woonsocket

Ye Olde English Fish & Chips I don’t know what it is about the saying Ye Olde but when you put it in front of English and Fish & Chips it just can’t be beat. While in Woonsocket Rhode Island I happened across this restaurant by the name of Ye Olde English Fish & Chips. At first I wasn’t too sure if I wanted to give it a shot but after we sat down and was greeted by a delightful server I was happy we came. She quickly explained the name and said that their fish and chips might be a little different then what you are use to but that is only because there aren’t many places that serve true European fish N Chips. As far as selection went there was a pretty big seafood menu that was mostly friend and with Fish N Chips being the most popular dish I wasn’t surprised or mad however because that is the name of the restaurant. The fish had a beautiful golden batter on it that was both delightful and crispy. The fish was just the right side not too think but not like biting into paper either. It had wonderful taste on its own and looked like it had never seen the inside of a freezer. The chips were good too, they were hand cut and fried fresh. The whole lot was served with a delicious malt vinegar. It was a great place to eat and a place I would eat again in a heat beat.
