Chicago is the largest city in Illinois and its adjacent to Lake Michigan. This city was founded in the year 1833 but it wasn't incorporated until the year 1837. It then became a huge transportation hub. Chicago has a few different names that most people call it which include the "Windy City", "Chi-Town", and the "City of Big Shoulders". This city is known as the home of the Wrigley Field which is where the Chicago Cubs play. Its also known for the Chicago Bulls which had Michael Jordan as a player on the team and is the most recognized basketball team in the world.

Chicago's Museums

Chicago is home to The Field Museum which is located at Chicago's Museum Campus. ThisThe Field Museum in Chicago museum was incorporated in the year of 1893 and it was first called the Columbian Museum of Chicago. They changed the name to what it is now in the year of 1905.  This museum has more than two millions specimens and its purpose is to educate its visitors on "the preservation and exhibition of objects illustrating art, archaeology, science and history."

It holds more than 8,000 aquatic animals who represent more than 700 different species for all over the world. This aquarium also holds something called aquarium and oceanarium chats which help you learn about the animals and their habitat. The chats are scheduled in a few different habitats, the locations are posted throughout the day all through the aquarium.

 

Chicago's Parks and Gardens

The Millennium Park has a lot of meaning an history behind it. It first started out as part of the IllinoisThe Millennium Park in Chicago Central Railroad in the 1850's. After that it turned into the Grant Park in 1909. Then finally in the year 1997 Mayor Rickard M. Daley put together a staff to come up with new plans for the Millennium Park. This park was first opened in 1998.  This park is 24.5 acres and has become known as the "crowning achievement for Chicago in the tradition of its original founder."

This wetland is kept alive by community volunteers. They pull weeds, spread seed, pick up trash, and monitor all species.

The conservatory has four different display houses which are the Palm House, Fern Room, Orchid House, and Show House. No matter what time of year it is the Lincoln Park Conservatory is always green. Things To Do In Chicago

Chicago is a place filled with plenty of things for vacationers. Chicago has Six Flags Great America Theme Park incase you want to go to a place for some thrills and chills. Chicago has the Brookfield Zoo and the Lincoln Park Zoo or even the Lambs Farm incase you want to visit with the animals. It also has festivals and conservatories to visit. There is one event Chicago holds and its called The Taste of Chicago. Its a yearly event that has been going on for 28 years. It runs from June 27th to July 6th or around that time every year. There are more than 60 local restaurateurs that come and offer a delicious combination of all kinds of foods. They also have music and skyline boat tours. The admission is free and it usually starts around 11am.
