 Dallas is considered the third largest city  in Texas as well as the ninth largest in the United States. Dallas was discovered in the year 1841 and declared a city on February of 1856.  Dallas is famous for their NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys. They are known as the most valuable sports team in the world. The Cowboys play in the Texas Stadium and not only are they a great football team but they have the best cheer/dance team as well. The Texas stadium will be relocating in 2009 to a new stadium with 100,000 seats which is located in Arlington. Dallas holds many events such as the State Fair of Texas, the Red River Shootout, and many more.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys first joined the NFL as an expansion team in the year 1960. In 1990 the Cowboys regular and post-season games started selling out.  They are known as the most valuable football team in the world. They have also been one of the most successful teams in this modern time. The cowboys have won five Super Bowls as well as eight Conference Championships. They have had more victories on Monday Night Football than any NFL team! They are named the "American Team" because of how popular and how many wins they have had in such a short time.  Only two other NFL teams have won the Super Bowl five times which are the San Francisco 49ers and the Pittsburg Steelers. The Cowboys also has one of the most famous cheerleading squads as well. The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleading Team is so popular they have their own T.V. show. In the 1960's the Cowboy Cheerleaders were simply just high school students, male and female and they weren't very popular. They were there simply for support of the football team. The real Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders appeared during the 1972-1973 NFL season. These cheerleaders now do a lot to help the troops overseas by visiting them and raising money for the soldiers. They are known worldwide and a lot of girls look up to them as role models.

Dallas  Museums

Dallas has  museum just for Firefighters located at Fair Park. It was an active Firehouse starting in the year 1907 up until May 2, 1975. Since 1975 it has been the Dallas Firefighters Museum. This Firehouse was about 63 feet across and 80 feet deep. It was two stories and made of all concrete and brick. It had a combination chemical and hose wagon as well as a hook and ladder truck. The first floor had the fuel rooms, a workroom with tools and workbench. When it first opened the museum had an annual attendance of 5,000 visitors.

The Nasher Sculpture Center is located near the Dallas Museum of Art. This museum is focused on contemporary and modern sculptures. Some of the sculptures are even outside on the lawn. This museum is the sculptures of Raymond and Patsy Nasher who are the ones that put together these amazing sculptures. This museum also has a cafe and a store inside along with research and education facilities.

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza is very unique. It goes through the life, times, death, and legacy of President John F. Kennedy. This museum opened its doors on Presidents Day, February 20, 1989. It is located in the old Texas School Book Depository building. This museum will show you films, photographs, artifacts and displays to educate you on the assassination and even the findings of the investigations after the assassination. It is a self funding museum so it depends on donations and ticket sales and rents the space from the county of Dallas.

Things To Do In Dallas

Dallas is a city filled with plenty of great things to do and places to see. One of those great places is the Dallas World Aquarium. This aquarium has more than 85,000 gallons of saltwater with plenty of marine life from all over the world. It even has a 22,000 gallon walk through tunnel to experience reef life. There is also the Ice skating Center at the Galleria. There you can have the experience of ice skating right in the middle of the mall. If you want more of a historic type of fun, you can visit the Old Red Courthouse. This courthouse was built back in 1892 with a Romanesque Style. Dallas also has an Estee Lauder Spa for the woman who want an excellent spa treatment. There is nothing like the America's Ice Garden which will give you an experience like your at the New York City's Rockefeller Plaza. This ice garden is very elegant and luxurious. There is something for everyone in the city of Dallas.
