Denver is the capital of Colorado and is located in the South Platte River Valley which is about 15 min from the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Denver Museum of Nature and Science

This museum is known as the main museum for natural history. it is located in City Park which is conveniently about 2 miles from downtown.  I this museum you can find Phipps IMAX Theaters and the Gates Planetarium. It also has quite a few diorama halls. If you are on the western side of the museum, make sure you take a look out to see the Denver skyline and mountains. It is one of the most popular views in Denver.  The museum was discovered in the year 1900 and it was first called the Colorado Museum of Natural History.  Some of the permanent exhibitions are Insects and Butterflies, Space Odyssey, Bears and Sea Mammals, Egyptian Mummies, Australia, and Prehistoric Journey along with many others.

The Denver Zoo is sitting on about 80 acres of land and is located in City Park. It was discovered in the year 1896. The Zoo is owned by the City and County of Denver but it is funded partly by the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District. This Zoo was known as the most popular paid attraction in the Denver area in the year 2005.  It has species from all over the world which include carnivorous mammals, hoofed mammals, and pachyderms. Some of the exhibitions the zoo has are Monkey Island, Feline House, Bird World, Wolf Pack Woods, and many more.

Washington Park in Colorado is one of the largest parks in its district. It is over 100 years old and usually hold about 250 picnic permits a year. This park has a 2.6 mile jogging path and one of the busiest recreation center in Denver.  It has two of the most vibrant flower gardens in Denver as well. There are two playgrounds which one of them is handicap accessible and it even has a few soccer fields. one basketball and rollerblade court, 10 tennis courts and much more.

The Colorado State Capitol Building is located at 200 East Colfax Avenue. It is known as the home of the Colorado legislature. The building is intentionally a look alike of the United States Capitol. it was designed and constructed in the 1890's. The gold dome on the top consist of a real gold plate. The building sits a little bit higher than the rest of downtown because it serves as the beginning of the Capitol Hill District.  This building is measured on the west side for elevation and on the fifteenth step it is engraved with the words "One Mile Above Sea Level". Also if you happen to be standing on this step around dusk, you can get a beautiful view of the sun setting just behind the Rocky Mountains.

Denver has a water park called Waterworld. It is one of the largest water parks in America and it is family-friendly. This park is located just 15 minutes from downtown Denver. It holds 42 attractions which is the biggest in America. They have rides for all ages from Wally World for the kids, to Voyage to the Center of the Earth for the whole family. There are plenty of places to have picnics as well, incase you don't want to buy lunch there. This park is a seasonal water park due to the weather, so therefore they are only open in the summertime.  Denver also has an amusement park called Elitch Gardens. This park is family owned and seasonal as well. Its not only an amusement park but also has a theater and a botanic garden which is located in the West Highland neighborhood of Denver. This park was originally known for its lush gardens and theater, but now since it has moved to a bigger location it is known for its thrilling rides. It even used to be called Six Flags Elitch Gardens.
