Myrtle Beach was first just a little town in the year 1938, it became a city in 1957. Myrtle Beach got its name from a plant that's called the wax myrtle and it grows everywhere in the area. It wasn't until between the 1800's and 1900's that people started to vacation in this city. At that time there wasn't much there to do and there were only a few permanent residents. Myrtle Beach has a theme park called Hard Rock Park. Its theme is all about rock legends like Led Zeppelin. All of the rides are themed around being a rock star. They have rides for all ages from the youngsters to adults. They occasionally hold concerts and events there as well. Myrtle Beach also has a place called Ripley's Aquarium which is the number one aquarium in the southeast. Yu can stay the night in this tunnel of sharks which is called Sleep with the Sharks. Myrtle Beach has an amusement park and water park that are both oceanfront and its called Family Kingdom. The amusement park part of Family Kingdom has many rides for both children and adults.  For the adults they have roller coasters, the sling shot, and a ride called hurricane. For the kids they have a kiddie coaster, the berry go round, kiddie swings, and much more. They also have family rides which includes bumper boats and bumper cars, a train ride, the tilt a whirl, and much much more! The water park part of Family Kingdom is right on the Beach and has many water slides and a lazy river to relax in. These to parks will give you an experience you wont forget!

Shows in Myrtle Beach

The Carolina Opry Show was voted the number one show for 23 years. They call it "America's Best Show." This show first opened in the year 1986 by Calvin Gilmore. This show has 36 of the nation's top singers, dancers, comedians, and musicians. This show can seat 2200 people and has state-of-the-art sound and lighting system. The show is always updated with new comedy and music and is about 2 hours long. This show will give you all kinds of music from country to gospel.

Good Vibrations is also a show by Calvin Gilmore and its a show about the 60's, 70's, and 80's. This show is approximately 90 minutes long and gives a lot of comedy and music as well. They call is the virtual tour of the glory days of American popular music. There is a lot of energy and excitement in this show, there will never be a dull moment.

The Le Grand Cirque Show is one of the most amazing shows in Myrtle Beach. It is located in the Palace Theatre. This show is breathtaking and your vacation would not be complete without seeing this show. This show has over 50 world class acrobats, jugglers, and performers all the way from China, Russia, Monte Carlo, and Europe. They are very talented actors who will always keep you on the edge of your seat.  This is a very family oriented show and includes something for all ages. Its all about fun and happiness from the music to the costumes!
