Orlando is one of the most popular cities in the central Florida area. It is also known as the county seat of Orange county. Orlando is mainly known for the tourist attractions it has in the area. This city has the largest number of hotels in the country, of course Las Vegas is the first. Orlando's estimated number of tourists is 52 million. He was said to have died in the second Seminole war. Between 1875 and 1895 Orlando was called the Golden Era. They called it the Golden era because of Florida's citrus industry. But then they had the Great Freeze and many grove owners had to give their crops up. There was a Florida land boom in the 1920's and it hit Orlando with an immense amount of people who moved in and started the residential area. This boom ended in the late 20's due to several hurricanes that hit Florida and also the Great Depression.

Theme Parks In Orlando

Walt Disney World

In 1963 Walt Disney and his brother Roy decided they were going to open a park. So Walt sent his Roy out to look for a place to build the park. Roy took a team so business associates with him and they traveled all over the country. The construction of Walt Disney World was totally private. Walt didn't want anyone to know about it and he wanted to have total control over the project. Walt Disney World did not take long to become a success. it was only a little bit over a month after the magic kingdom opened and the parking lot was filled and there was a traffic jam on the highways known as the worst traffic jams in history.

Magic Kingdom is the main park in Walt Disney World. This is the park with the infamous castleMagic Kigndom in Orlando where all the magic happens. Magic Kingdom has the most rides inside the park. They have kids rides along with rides for adults. Just in the year 2007 this park saw about 17 million people. The unofficial name of the Magic Kingdom is "The Most Magical Place On Earth."

This is mostly a park for adults. There are rides and  few things for children as well though. In the year 2007 they had about 10.93 million people visit the park. This made Epcot the third most visited theme park in the United States, and the sixth most visited in the world. Epcot is a very educational park where you can learn just about anything about any culture while your there. It also has some rides that will take your mind in another world!

The Third park then built at Walt Disney World was the Disney's Hollywood Studios. Formerly known as Disney-MGM Studios. This park opened on May 1, 1989. This park is themed to be aDisney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando Hollywood movie theme. In the year 2007 this park had about 9.51 million visitors, making it the fourth most visited theme park in the United States and seventh in the world. This park was the sister park to Epcot and was made to make people dream! This park as some great rides that you will never forget, once you have ridden them once you will want to go over and over again.

The fourth and last theme park built at Walt Disney World is Animal Kingdom. It opened on April 22, Animal Kingdom in Orlando1998 and it is the largest single Disney park in the world. This park covers over 500 acres and it is themed around animal conservation. In the year 2007 this park had about 9.49 million visitors which makes it the fifth most visited park in the United States and eight in the world. This park has many animals everywhere so that no matter where you are you will see some kind of animal. It has many great shows and a few rides that will blow your mind!

Disney's Water Parks

Typhoon Lagoon is a water park located at Walt Disney World Resort. It opened on June 1, 1989. ItDisney's Typhoon Lagoon in Orlando is known as the home to the worlds largest wave pool! The theme to Typhoon Lagoon is a wrecked ship from a typhoon. This is truly a tropical paradise where u can go and relax and enjoy a day in the sun. The wave pool that is at Typhoon Lagoon has a huge ship wrecked on top of a mountain called "Mount Mayday" and every half hour it erupts a 50 foot geyser. It will get the attention of everyone in the park! Typhoon Lagoon also has many water slides and even a place where you can go snorkeling with sharks!

Disney's Blizzard Beach in OrlandoBlizzard Beach is another one of Disney's water parks also located at Walt Disney World Resort. It opened on April 1, 1996. This water park is themed at a freak snowstorm. Blizzard Beach has many water slides to enjoy and a huge lazy river to lounge in. The major water slide there is on top of Mount Gushmore, where there is a 120 foot drop straight down! Visiting Blizzard Beach will give you a summer experience you will never forget!
