Phoenix is the most popular city in Arizona as well as the capital and the largest state capital in the United States.  Phoenix has a population of over a million people.  Phoenix was established on February 25, 1881. Phoenix Parks

The lagoon is 7.5 acres and about 6 feet deep. The amusement park is called Enchanted Island and includes rides, games, and a small train that goes around the park. This park is known as a Phoenix Point of Pride.

Papago Park is a very unique park. It is a hilly desert park that covers about 1200 acres of land. This park also includes a desert botanical garden, a large zoo, picnic areas, small lakes, hiking trails, a fire museum, and much more.  One of the popular formations the park has is the Hole in the Rock. The Heard Museum was first discovered in 1929 by Dwight B. and Marie Bartlett Heard. TheyThe Heard Museum in Phoenix originally came up with The Hear Museum to hold their personal collection of art which they would buy from all over the world. Most of the art comes from La Ciudad Indian ruin. There are two branches of the museum now. One is in Surprise in the West Valley and the other is Scottsdale in the North Valley. The mission of this museum is to educate the public about the heritage and living of Native people.

Hall of Flame Fire Museum in PhoenixThe Hall of Flame Fire Museum almost one acre of exhibits. It holds more than 90 fully restored pieces of fire objects that are on display from 1725 to 1969. Most of their exhibits are American but they do have some pieces from England, France, Austria, Germany, and even Japan. It also includes a gallery that is dedicated to the history of wildland firefighting from all over the United States. This museum was founded in 1961 by George F. Getz, Jr.

It also includes a Museum Store to purchase souvenirs. 

 

Things To Do In Phoenix

Phoenix has many things to do and visit while vacationing there. One thing that is popular is to Climb Piestewa Peak. Piestewa Peak is part of the Phoenix Mountain Preserve with an elevation of 2,608 feet. Once you get to the top there is an amazing view of the city. This hike gets about 4,00 to 10,000 hikers per week. There is also the Phoenix Zoo which is privately owned and a nonprofit zoo.  A popular place for shopping is at Scottsdale Fashion Square. This is an upscale shopping mall that is known for always having newer stores. If you want more of a historical attraction, there is the Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot. These are two of National Monuments that are worth a days trip and about an hour north of Phoenix.  Both museums are very interesting and it includes a little bit of hiking as well.
