Reasons to rent a car from National Car rental:

• 1. Renting a car saves on taxis and transfers - Public transportation in many cities is spotty much of the time and not very efficient in most cases.  Taxis can be very expensive as gas prices have affected all sectors of the economy.  Whether you're going to Los Angeles or another very large city (which means LOTS of taxi rides and many many cab fares) or whether you're going to a relatively compacted city or destination like Orlando Florida and the Disney World area (almost all of the area hotels DO NOT offer free shuttle service to all the theme parks...some offer shuttles to Disney World and it's group of parks, other offer Universal and SeaWorld shuttles, but then they don't offer Disney transportation....so you can't mix and match without a rental car).  Keep in mind, parking is NOT included in your price of a hotel in most cases.  Each visit to a theme park will add another $10-$12 parking for that day.  Trips into bigger cities will have either parking meters or public parking lots.  But with a city spread out over a wide distance, a rental car is usually a very good option.
