Provincial Museum
the Hunan provincial museum was constructed in
1951, and opened in 1956, in the capital of Changsha with a
total of 12 acres of which 4.9 acres are filled with structures
and houses a magnificent collection of over 180,000 objects that
included those relics that had been discovered in the tombs of
the Marquis of Dai and his wife in Mawangdui. The museum
contains two permanent collections called the Rhythm of the
Hunan Guqin and the Exhibition of Qi baishi Art Works, that
contains works from this well known artist who had learned
flower engraving, carpentry and painting in 1888. Their
permanent exhibitions includes Cultural Relics from Maangdui Han
Tombs, Painting of Ming and Qing dynasties, Bronzes of Shang and
Zhou dynasties, Ten New Major Archaeological Discoveries in
Hunan and Pottery and Porcelain from Famous Kilns. The museum
has three special exhibitions that include Humanity and Love,
Charm of Silver Jewelries and From the Collection of Uffizi
Gallery.
