SEE Science Center
the SEE is an interactive learning center that
was created to encourage understanding, achievements and
enjoyment of the sciences, technology and mathematics, now
celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary, with a plethora of
events and experiences that are sure to thrill you and your
family. These include; traveling exhibits, hands-on exhibits
that include such excellent topics as light, sound, forces,
simple machines, electricity and more, overnight stays, the LEGO
millyard project on permanent display, birthday parties, a
wonderful gift shop, workshops and mini-courses, group programs
that offer LEGO programs, labs and tours, camp summer science,
outreach programs for community groups, libraries and schools
and an annual family membership program. The center offers
outstanding exhibits the encourage you to feel forces, touch and
try exhibits about light, sound, forces, momentum and more, let
you look through a periscope and send a whisper across the room.
Beginning tomorrow, April 1st, and running until September, they
are showcasing a new exhibit called Smile: The tooth and Nothing
but the Tooth; with standards like a moonwalk display, a
magnetic ball wall display, on two full floors of hands-on
science fun and activities. Perhaps one of the most interesting
and exciting exhibit is the LEGO millyard that is the biggest
permanent LEGO installation at minifigure scale in the world and
resembles the Manchester Amoskeag Millyard as it looked in 1900.
This manufacturing company had been recognized as the biggest
textile manufacturer in the world by 1915. The huge Amoskeag
mill complex spans more than a mile on the east side of the
Merrimack River and a half mile on the west.
