  • Jefferson Hotel

  • St. Paul's Episcopal Church 
    Visible from the western parts of the capital is a white Bell Tower belonging to St. Paul's Episcopal Church built in 1844. The most important church during the Civil War, it was built on the same grounds as a previous Monumental church. Worshipping there were the two most prestigious men of the confederacy, General Robert E. Lee and President Jefferson Davis.  During the service on April 2nd of 1865, the message to evacuate Richmond was delivered to President Davis on that same day.
