Vietnam Veterans Memorial
In recognition to the men and women that served in America's divisive
wars, Maya Lin decided to design this memorial. This extraordinary
monument contains 58,249 names of both men and women that service in the
US military. Presenting the veteran's names etched in a
beautiful black granite, this wall preserves those who served in foreign
wars from being eclipsed by the politics of the day. Apparently, the
design was kept simple so that all could respond appropriately to their fallen
soldiers. Paving the way to healing, this process continues even until today.
