Bourbon Street
Bourbon
Street is one of the most popular places in New
Orleans. This is the heart of the action, filled
with bars, restaurants, and amazing Jazz music
that you can hear in and out of the restaurants
and clubs. There are twenty five million
visitors that visit Bourbon Street every year
for Mardi Gras, where it is said that the fun
never stops.

Audubon Zoo
This
zoo is located in Audubon Park which is home to
about 2,000 animals and is one of the best zoo's
in the US. The zoo has many exhibits to explore
such as the endangered species carousel, the
Jaguar jungle, and much more. The newest and
most popular exhibit is the discovery walk where
visitors interact with the animals. |


New
Orleans Streetcars
In
New Orleans visitors will have to look out for
not only regular car but also streetcars which
zip down the road as well. There are two
streetcar lines, one is in St. Charles and the
other is in Riverfront. It is not expensive to
ride and the streetcars will show visitors most
of the major attraction spots in New Orleans.

Aquarium of the Americas
This
aquarium holds more than 7,000 fish and other
marine creatures. It is located right on the
Mississippi River. Here visitors can see a large
collection of jellyfish and sharks. There is a
rainforest exhibits on the top floor and a sea
lion pool outside. There is also a Marine Mammal
Pavilion that holds friendly bottle nose
dolphins. |


Historic New Orleans Collection
This
attraction shows the history of the city of New
Orleans. This museum is compromised into four
different structures. The Merieult House, built
in the 1700's, the Coutning House, built between
1794-95, the Williams Residence, dates back to
1889, and the three story Maisonette. They are
all connected by a courtyard. Each house holds
part of the artwork done by the owner.

City Park
The City Park is located in Mid-City
and includes attractions such as the New Orleans
Museum of Modern Art and the Botanical Gardens.
The park sits on 1500 acres of land and visitors
can see the live oak trees, which over 200 are
registered with the Live Oak Society. Visitors
can play tennis or go jogging and on Sundays
there are football games held in the park. |


National D - Day Museum
This
museum is filled with photographic images that
tell a story on the troops at Omaha Beach in
Normandy and General Dwight D. Eisenhower
meeting with Allied paratroopers. These images
captivate the spirit, optimism, and courage of
the men and women who fought in World War II.
This museum just recently opened in 2000 but the
building dates back to 1856. It is more than
70,000 square feet of history. |


St.
Louis Cathedral
The St. Louis Cathedral was first originated
in 1720 which is the oldest cathedral in the US.
It stands over Jackson Square and is an
important historical but religious symbol for
this Catholic city. The cathedral became a minor
basilica in 1964 which is one of only 15 in the
US. There are tours available that leave from
the gift shop. |


Haunted History/Ghost Tour
This
haunted ghost tour meets at Rev. Zombie's Voodoo
Shop. This is a popular attraction mostly due to
the tombstones and voodoo. After meeting the
tour goes to the St. Louis Cemetery to see the
tomb of Marie Laveau, a voodoo priestess. The
tour hits all of the historically haunted
landmarks. There are other haunted tours as
well. |


Louisiana Children's Museum
This children's museum is held in a
warehouse ambiance. The museum creates a
learning environment with their many exhibits.
The exhibits are interactive and hands-on. Kids
and adults will learn about math and science as
well as have fun. One exhibit is in a giant
bubble where visitors learn about the magical
elements of a bubble. |
