When you visit Oklahoma City for the
first time you will want to visit the National Cowboy & Western
Heritage Museum. This popular museum is open daily and offers
first time visitors a great insight into the rich history of our
American West.. The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum
was founded in 1955, and collects, displays and preserves an
internationally renowned collection of Western art and artifacts
representing the legacy of the American West. Over ten-million
visitors from around the world have visited this unique museum.
The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum showcases a fantastic
collection of classic and contemporary western art. Visitors
will see works of art from talented artist such as; Frederic
Remington and Charles M. Russell along with works from sculptor
James Earle Fraser who displays his stunning collection The End of
the Trail. Featured in the exhibition wing visitors will see
turn of the century town and interactive history galleries which
focuses on the American Cowboy, Rodeos, Victorian Firearms, Native
American Culture, Western Performers and Frontier Military.
Once you have completed your self guided tour of the Museum, visit
the beautiful, landscaped gardens this is a great place to relax for
a while and enjoy the natural scenery. The younger visitors
will enjoy the outdoor play area here they can run around and play.
The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum is home to three Halls
of Fame where visitors can see the honored men and women who left
their mark through their exemplary lives, careers and achievements
that embodied the heritage of the American West. The National
