• Royal Ontario Museum
  The ROM or Royal Ontario Museum can be found in Toronto, Canada and is the country's biggest museum of natural history and world culture. It is the fifth biggest museum in North America with more than 6 million relics and more than 40 galleries. The ROM contains excellent and world renown collections of East Asian art, Near Eastern and African art, dinosaurs and European and Canadian history. The museum houses the biggest collection of fossils in the world from the Burgess Shale with over 150,000 specimens; and has always hosted many traveling exhibitions. It was started in 1857 as the Museum of Natural History and Fine Arts, at the Toronto Normal School, with today's conception starting in 1912 with the enactment of the Royal Ontario Museum Act. It was owned by the University of Toronto until 1968, when it became an independent facility although it still has close relations with the university, occasionally sharing resources and experience.
