• Albuquerque Aquarium
  Along the Rio Grande River is the Albuquerque Aquarium which opened in December of 1996. The Aquarium exhibits are filled with different fish and mammals from the Gulf of Mexico saltwater species from a variety of habitats, including surf zone, shallow waters, coral reefs, open ocean, and the deep ocean. One of the aquariums main exhibits is the 285,000 gallon shark tank that has a 38-foot-wide viewing window. Check out the authentic shrimp boat from the Gulf Coast exhibits, or walk-through moray eel tunnel and when it comes time go don't forget to stop at the Aquarium gift shop for a souvenir.
   

• Rio Grande Zoo
  The Rio Grande Zoo was founded in 1927 and sits on over 64 acres of  land. The Zoo has a variety of animals and species from all over the world including Asia, Africa, Indonesia, and Australia. The park is about a 2 1/2 mile walk from one side to the other. The 64 acres is filled with beautiful natural habitats for all of the animals. Some of the fun things to do at the Zoo is to watch the animals be fed or feed some of the animals yourself. A main feature of the garden is the 10,000 square foot glass conservatory house that holds native and exotic plants from desert and Mediterranean climate zones. Some of the gardens it features is a beautiful seasonal Butterfly garden, a Children's fantasy garden, the Sasebo Japanese garden and a few more gardens of gorgeous flowers.
