  This popular Museum is named in honor of the late Lieutenant Governor Bob Bullock.  When you are visiting the Lone Star State a visit to Bob Bullock Story of Texas Museum tells the story of Texas through interactive displays, IMAX films and much more.  This beautiful building is located in downtown Austin, featuring three floors of interactive exhibits the entire family will enjoy...  The three levels feature a theme Land, Identity and Opportunity.  Each exhibit will surround you with sights, sounds and sometimes the smells making up the History of Texas.  Each floor of amazing exhibits highlights important chapters in The Story of Texas through original artifacts, media programs and recreated environments.  Begin your journey with Land the first floor exhibit.  Visitors will learn how the land of Texas became Texas through a story of Encounters on the Land.  First meetings between Native Americans and explorers from Europe.  Discover how the native people lived on this diverse landscape.  What did the Spanish find here? How about the French people what were they doing?  In this exhibit all these questions & more will be answered through actual recordings, artifacts reflecting their lives.  Learn about the early missions, settlers, soldiers and much more.  Now we are moving on to the second floor: Identity- Here you will explore the story of how Texas became an independent nation in Building the Lone Star Identity.  See the giant time line of Texas history unfold on a 60 foot video wall with many interactive stations where you can learn more interesting details about several important events in Texas history.  And last is the third floor: Opportunity, here you can see how Texans have preserved the lands and approached everything from drilling oil to redefining world technology.  Also see how ranching plays an important role adapting to diverse conditions of the land to prosper & how oil changed Texas.  Take a seat in the Oil Tank Theater and relax as Walter Cronkite narrates a media presentation exploring the impact of oil in Texas.  The Museums exhibits bring the Story of Texas to life through an ongoing process of changing historical objects.  If this is your first visit to the Lone Star State you should visit The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum.
