Things to do in Charlotte

  • Hendrick Motorsports Museum  Hendrick Motorsports Museum Charlotte
When you visit Charlotte a visit to Hendrick Motorsports Museum should be at the top of your list especially if you enjoy NASCAR racing.  After months of renovations the Museum reopened in May 2008.  Visitors can check out Rick Hendrick's first Chevrolet, see memorabilia and cars of Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, Jimmie Johnson & Dale Earnhardt Jr. or watch a dissected Impala SS "Car of Tomorrow" being pieced together.   These are just a few things to do at the Museum.  This  large and spacious 15,000 square-foot facility pays tribute to twenty-five seasons of Hendrick Motorsports history and offers fans the latest in team related merchandise and apparel.  Throughout the year Hendrick Motorsports Museum will exhibit a rotating collection of famous Chevrolets from the original All Star Racing entry, multiple Daytona 500 champions and the inaugural Brickyard 400 winner.  The Museum currently features cars driven by Ricky Hendrick, Ken Schrader, Geoff Bodine and Tim Richmond among others.  Highlighted by Hendrick's 12 NASCAR championships the Museum will display memorabilia from nearly three decades of competition.  Unique items on display include dozens of trophies collected over the years by Hendrick's teams, a Days of Thunder movie manuscript along with personal notes from Tom Cruise to Rick Hendrick and other amazing artifacts.  The Hendrick Motorsports Museum first opened in October 1995, blending the company's past with its present cutting edge ways.  Visitors may also enjoy the No. 48 War Wagon that was used during the team's 2006 championship season, experience an up close look at a Chevrolet R07 engine, sit in a carbon-fiber racing seat and much more...
