  • Walk of Fame    Walk of Fame Hollywood
Hollywood is home to several popular landmarks including the Walk of Fame which is located on Hollywood Blvd features stars inlaid on the sidewalks. As visitors head off on foot down the sidewalk on the famed Hollywood Blvd you will see a number of bronze stars along the sidewalk.  The historic Walk of Fame was inaugurated in 1960 when 2,500 blank stars were placed along the main traffic area.  Since 1960, more than 2,300 stars have been added along with the names of famous personalities who have left their mark in the fields of television, radio, motion pictures, recordings and live performances.  Each star has a small symbol to indicate which field the person is being honored. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce chooses the honorees each year after a long nomination process.  Hundreds of nominations are made annually, unfortunately only a handful are chosen.  Did you know a celebrity can have more than one star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame?  The  famous cowboy star Gene Autry has one star for each category, another interesting fact- when a honored celebrity dies it's traditional to leave flowers or small gifts by his or her star.   The Hollywood Walk of Fame is known all around the world & is visited by millions of people each year.  So grab your camera & find your favorite star !!!!
