  • Public MuseumPublic Museum in Grand Rapids
    Is home to several rotating and permanent exhibits offering something for visitors of all ages. A few highlighted exhibits include: The Furniture City- is the largest and most studied exhibit in the museum.  Early Grand Rapids received the nickname the furniture city because it was the first center to mass produce furniture in North America.  Visitors will have the chance to see over 120 pieces of furniture from the 1840's to the 1990's, see a large mural telling the story of the city and its people along with a re-created 1920's showroom from the Grand Rapids Furniture Market.  Next is the Habitats Exhibit- everyone will enjoy exploring this exhibit as you wander through the natural environments of Michigan.   • 1928 Spillman Carousel
    Should not be missed when you visit the Public Museum, this beautiful Carousel makes up the Cook Carousel Pavilion extending over the stunning Grand River from the main gallery of the Museum.  The Carousel is open year round and visitors can enjoy rides for one dollar enjoying the music of a Wurlitzer band organ.  The 1928 Spillman Carousel features 44 hand carved wooden horses, two chariots and other animals such as lion, deer, giraffe, camel, goat and a tiger.  All the animals are elaborately painted and jeweled complete with an original ticket booth.  The interior and dome of the Carousel are decorated and painted in vivid colors finished with shiny brass poles and 1,200 lights.  Visitors of all ages won't want to miss a ride on this beautiful Carousel.

  • Meyer May House in Grand RapidsMeyer May House 
    Is another historic house that should not be missed when visiting Grand Rapids, Michigan.  This beautiful house was built in 1908-1909 by Frank Lloyd Wright, for Meyer May and his wife Sophie.  This one of a kind style house is very different from the other Victorian style houses near the Meyer May house.  Myer's father Abraham owned a successful clothing store in Grand Rapids he was always on the cutting edge of fashion and technology, they were the first store to use clothes hangers to display their clothing. Abraham passed away while his son Meyer was still in college, he soon dropped out of school and took over the family business.  He became a wealthy, successful business man.  Meyer and his family lived in the home until Meyer passed away in 1936, the home was abandoned for six years and the later owners rented rooms out.  Over the next 40 years the house underwent several modifications, in 1985 the house was purchased by Steelcase and restoration began.  Steelcase opened the house to the public in 1987 the restoration of the Meyer May house is almost perfect.  Visitors will be amazed as you tour this stunning, one of a kind house.
  • Grand Haven Pier and Lighthouse
    Is located within Grand Haven State Park, visitors will enjoy strolling along the boardwalk admiring the 51-foot tall, fire engine red lighthouse.  This was the first lighthouse in Grand Haven completed in 1839 and stood on the south side of the Grand River.  In 1855 a second lighthouse was built and stood high up on a bluff East of the Grand River, in addition to the lighthouse's a fog signal building was added to the end of south pier in 1875.  The pier was extended in 1905 and the fog signal building was moved to the end of the pier where it remains today.  The original 1839 South Pier lighthouse was moved from the shore to its current position on the south pier and rebuilt in 1905.  Located at the top of the inner lighthouse is the parapet and lantern room which is all automated.  The bright red lighthouse houses a light and a fog signal-horn to assist mariners.
