Belle Isle
Connected to the rest of the city by the MacArthur Bridge, Belle is an
island in the Detroit River and is home to the Detroit Yacht Club, Detroit Boat
Club, Dosin Great Lakes Museum, Coast Guard post, and much more. Home to
natural sites, Belle offers trails with wildlife views and miles of beautiful
beaches. Much in demand is the iconic botanical gardens including the casino
and Whitcomb Conservatory providing diversified attractions for visitors
alike both young and old.

Detroit Zoo
Located in the suburban Royal Oak Woods, the Zoo opened in 1883 and shortly
thereafter went broke threatening its closure. Financing the purchase of the
zoo and circus animals, a capitalist named Luther Beecher erected a new
building called the Detroit Zoological Garden. Legends has it that on
the day of opening the new zoo in 1928 Mayor John Nagal entered the
wrong entrance on his way to a speaking event and came face to face with a
polar bear. Defending his precarious situation, May Nagal said "He's
the reception committee" in an attempt to hide is blunder. Since then, the
helps to preserve critically endangered species including Trumpeter swans,
snails, circus animals, lions, polar bears and many more numerous species of
animal life.

The Henry Ford
Building his car in Detroit 1896, Henry Ford son of a farmer was the first
to create the moving assembly line. Literally putting the world on
wheels, his legacy is found at every street corner in his hometown in
Detroit. Spread over more than 90 acres of Dearborn just outside of
metro-Detroit is The Henry Ford. Showcasing the whole American
experience is the many exhibits, demonstrations, programs, and
re-enactments amassing tens of thousands of ordinary objects, numerous
inventions, and technological advancements. Exhibits include John F. Kennedy's
limousine, Edgar Allan Poe's writing desk, and George Washington's camp bed.
